- Marinelli indicates Un-Restricted Free Agents will Test the Market
The Detroit Lions currently have 13 Un-Restricted Free Agents. Coach Rod Marinelli has discussed with reporters that probably none of the players will be signed by the Lions before the Free Agent Signing period begins February 29, 2008. Marinelli said to the reporters ‘I don’t see it happening’ when asked if any will be signed. He went on to say: ‘I think the guys want to go out and test the Market, and they should’. Here is the list of the 13 players:
- Damien Woody, Tackle
- Boss Bailey, Linebacker
- Teddy Lehman, Linebacker
- T.J. Duckett, Running Back
- Aveion Cason, Running Back
- Tatum Bell, Running Back
- John Owens, Tight End
- Tony Beckham, Cornerback
- Idris Bashir, Safety
- Keith Smith, Cornerback
- Travis Fischer, Cornerback
- George Foster, Tackle
- Troy Walters, Wide Receiver
It will be very interesting to Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger to see which of these 13 players the Lions GM Matt Millen and Coach Rod Marinelli decide to bring back. I am sure that whoever they resign we will hear how good they really are and last year was just the beginning of how good they can be. Also how much they player has bought into the system and we the fans should expect great play from the player during the 2008 season.
Haven’t heard much lately on the Lions interest in former Denver Bronco Linebacker Al Wilson. I am wondering if the Lions have decided to go in a different direction. Guess we will find out next week when the Free Agents start signing.
Please make your choice for the Lions biggest need in the Draft.
