  • Las Vegas has Posted the Odds for NFL Teams to Win Super Bowl XLIII

The Detroit Lions have been set at 60-1 odds to win Super Bowl XLIII. Now while this might seem like long odds they are actually an improvement over previous years of the Matt Millen regime.

Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger each year travels to Las Vegas for the 1st weekend of ‘March Madness’ and every year I put down 25 Large on the Lions to win that year’s Super Bowl. Just so there is no confusion, 25 Large for me is two 10s and a 5. Anyway I can tell you that two years the Lions were at the bottom of the pack at 250-1 and another year they were at 225-1. Also each year when I make my wager the cage attendant basically says something like, ‘you know you are wasting your money’. I always agree but remind the cage worker that it is only March and there is still hope for the Lions at least until Camp starts in July. They usually are right at the bottom of the teams and have long odds with the Arizona Cardinals. The last two years they have been getting less odds to win even though realistically they are no closer to winning a Super Bowl than the Oakland Raiders and Miami Dolphins who are at the bottom this year. In fact in a recent post I showed how the Lions are at the bottom of the NFL. I am very surprised given the recent history of the Lions and the bleak future after the way Detroit ended the 2007 Season that they came in at only 60-1. I expected that Detroit would have been at the bottom of the teams again which this year is 100-1. At 100-1, I would win a bundle for my 25 Large if the Lions ’Shock the World’ and win Super Bowl XLIII.  The good news is at 60-1 the Lions have the best odds since Millen arrived. I have already put away my 25 Large and will get to the Sportsbook during ‘March Madness’ and put it all on the Lions to win the Super Bowl. Guess I will just have to be satisfied with the windfall at 60-1 when Detroit finally turns it around and becomes next year’s New York Giants.

Here are the odds for each NFL Team to prevail in Super Bowl XLIII. The usual suspects are at the top and the bottom of the list.

  • New England Patriots 5:2
  • Indianapolis Colts 6:1
  • Dallas Cowboys 6:1
  • Green Bay Packers 7:1
  • San Diego Chargers 10:1
