- Detroit Lions Prepare for 2008 NFL Draft
While other NFL teams were preparing for and participating in the 2007 NFL Playoffs, the Detroit Lions only had the 2008 NFL Draft on the horizon. Detroit has the 15th pick of the Draft this year based on their 7-9 record during the 2007 season.
- Detroit has These Areas of the Team to Improve with the Draft
- Offensive Line
- Defensive Back
- Linebacker
- Defensive Line
- Running Back
Hopefully Matt Millen will see that Wide Receiver is not among the needs for the team.
Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger has done a little digging and the following is a list of players that could be available for the Lions 1st Round pick in the draft. I did not include the players that will probably be long gone before the Lions have a chance at them with the 15th pick.
- Mike Jenkins CB South Florida
- Jonathon Stewart RB Oregon
- Vernon Gholston DE Ohio State
- Ryan Clady OT Boise State
- Antoine Cason CB Arizona
- Quetin Groves DE Auburn
- Dan Connor LB Penn State
- Sedrick Ellis DT USC
- Keith Rivers LB USC
- Sam Baker T USC
- Malcom Jenkins CB Ohio State
- Jeffrey Otah OT Pittsburgh
- Felix Jones RB Arkansas
Please Vote in the 2008 NFL Draft Poll.

Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger did not do so well finishing the season in the Football pool, I am in, picking games against the spread. For most of the season I was in the hunt but like the Lions finished very poorly. Remember the Lions finished 1-7 in the season’s 2nd half. I was 1-7 during the 1st two rounds of the NFL Playoffs to eliminate my chances for winning. I am currently looking for a scapegoat to fire like the Lions did to Mike Martz. Rod Marinelli will be happy that like he wants his players to keep ‘Pounding the Rock’ that after my performance I will keep ‘Pounding the Bud Light’.

I would go TE before Running Back. The other needs I agree 100%
Yes, the running back position is a great choice! However, with that the Lions need to make some smart trades for either more picks in the Draft or much needed talent already in the NFL. Don’t leave out the possilbily to drop Big time money on a big time player at the QB or OT. I mean come on Ford Motor Company owns the Detroit Lions you would think they would want to see the Lions make the Playoffs. As a Detroit Lions fan for over 16 years I want a Super Bowl!If the rest of you agree with me on this make sure the Owner and the GM get a copy! Thanks!
i think u should pick mike hart rb from unversity of michigan he can make a big difference
Mario, thanks for the comment. The Lions have TE Dan Campbell coming back from injury in 2008. Probably will preclude them from drafting a TE.
Hungry for the playoffs, thanks for the comment. You have happened upon the underlining problem with the Lions. They need help in so many areas.
ethan, thanks for your comment. Mike Hart would be a good pick.
First of all, the lions don’t need a running back. Kevin Jones is a good back. However, he needs a offensive line that can actually give him time to take a step forward before being drilled. That offensive line sucks, so it’s no wonder kitna threw 20 INTs this season. He doesn’t have time to think let alone throw the ball. The defensive line could use a little help too. My top 2 picks are: OT Jeffery Otah out of Pittsburgh, and DE Vernon Gholston out of Ohio State.
[...] Michael Keating wrote an interesting post today on Detroit Lions 2008 NFL Draft ProspectsHere’s a quick excerptWhile other NFL teams were preparing for and participating in the 2007 NFL Playoffs, the Detroit Lions only had the 2008 NFL Draft on the horizon. I would like to see them draft a LB like Dan Conner or a good big DB. They need defense. I would also like to see them take Mike Hart in maybe the second or third round. Yes Jones is ok i guess but is always hurt and not a leader like Hart. Maybe even pick up Henne in the later rounds like 4th or 5th if he is available. If anything they will at least sell more tickets with them on the team. Besides Smoker is not the future and Kitna is not either. Other than that I would like defenseive picks and OL in the later rounds. I dont’ think a OL is worth a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round pick. How many OL get drafted in the first 3 rounds and pan out or make the team instanly better. I would get some OL in free agency because they have experience and don’t cost the ridiculous amount of money for an early round pick. Also Kitna did not throw 20 int because his line was bad it is because he makes some really bad choices.
i meant Stanton not smoker and I could deal with an OL if it was Jake Long because he is a freak. He was a four year starter at Michigan and proven player that would make a difference
im a huge michigan fan as well as a lions fan… but at the fifteen pick i want a stud cornerback… a guy like salib from kansas… that guy can return and he is a stud corner as well.. since i am a michigan fan i also watch the big ten and i like the cornerback from wisconsin… ikedonaju or something like that… i think first round we have to play it by ear… we have too many needs… i would absolutely love jake long but we cant afford to trade up for him because he is definately not getting past the chiefs at five… if we go d line i would like harvey (DE Florida) rather than gholston… and a last resort i wouldnt mind a smart linebacker like connors i have heard that he is better than pozluzny. in the later rounds we have to address the offensive line and i think the runningback class is deep enough to find a diamond in the rough… I LOVE RAY RICE… haha hit me back ryan lets get something going me and buddy have been looking for a lions chat thing….
Yeah very true Jake I think a stud at corner is the #1 need. i like salib too. I think Rice would be a good late pick he is a beast or Kevin Smith from centeral florida. I also would like maybe like a 4th or 5th rounder on Dennis Dixon if he is there. Yeah there is no way Jake Long is comming to detroit. I don’t think it would be bad if they could maybe trade down to like the 25th or so pick and pick up a second or third rounder too. to fill some of the many needs
i completely agree i have been watching senior bowl practices and there is this offensive tackle from boston college… cherilus… they say he is like the third or fourth best tackle but man i watched him go against sedrick ellis and a few other usc and sec d ends and he was a stud… i would love to trade down to twenty five or so pick up an extra second round pick… i like kevin smith a lot too… but i told my friend something before rice’s bowl game and then he did that… you know what is crazy to think about is i always thought ray rice was bigger in stature… but the dude isnt even two hundred pounds…
If they would stop winning the last game every year for LION PRIDE and moving down we would have better players already but i don’t want to get started on that.
Yeah i think the best chance would be Dallas at 22 or Titans at 24. Yeah Rice is small Hart is bigger and Smith is a true beast. i hope they can get Dennis Dixon too but the rest defense and OL NO WR AT ALL !!! They could get some good defense in the later rounds like Shawn Crable or Jamar Adams.
Since we won’t be winning Super Bowls any time soon
I had some crazy ideas like tradeing Big Baby and the 16th for the Raiders and taking McFadden but it would never happen.
Also trade Roy Williams for a first rounder.
Perhaps Cincy who I heard is trying to get rid of Johnson and Henry.
“Eveyone Will Hate This” My personal fav is Roy Williams to the Titans for PAC MAN and a third or fourth rounder. I know he is trouble but he is young and a damn good corner and KR. Two spots we need filled. Just resign him to a deal that if he gets in trouble his contract is void and released.
I may be crazy but I wanted them to take Peterson in the first and Woodley in the second last year. Think about how much better we would be with them.
I think they need to hire some draft advisors too.
the more and more i think of the lions and watch this draft class i feel like this draft is deeper throughout more than value at the top… i dont know if that makes sense but what i mean is i want to trade down to the end of the first or even out of the first round… if we could get another second and third round pick i would get out of the first round… if through the first three rounds we come away with two linemen (whether its a d end or a offensive tackle) and a corner then im okay with that…
also ryan tell me what you think of this tight end class coming out… i think it is super deep even if you wanted to take a chance on a guy like kellen davis from michigan st… he is huge but thats about it…
No runningbacks or recievers… but anything else goes.. even quarterback in the later rounds… give stanton someone to fight it out with because i hope they dont think kitna is our future….
Man they must have read this post just saw on ESPN that the Lions are getting rid of Shawn Rodgers going to not pay him a 1 million dollar salary bonus. They better not just release him like ESPN said they might that would be retarded at least get something for him. Not like he is bad he is one of the best DT in the NFL. I think next year is going to be a bad year and they will be the last place defense again. I think the TE class is decent. Davis might not be bad but they do not have luck with anyone from state. I like Brad Cottam from Tennessee. He is 6-8″ 275 runs a 4.7 40 and can block. I hope they pick up some more picks too. This draft is deep specially at DB and LB this is what I would love to see this draft.
Round 1-Trade Rogers and 16th to the Jets pretty sure McFadden will still be there and Take him and make sure New England Doesn’t. If he is not there take Vernon Gholston cause he is a freak and is going to be good could be used at DE or OLB if at #16 take Aquib Talib DB Kansas or Leodis McKelvin DB from Troy
Round 2-Jack Ikegwuonu DB from Wisconsin BIG and fast kept Manningham in check pretty well
Or
If we drafted McFadden take Derrik Harvey DE from Florida / Shawn Crable i think he is going to be good
Round 3-If we have not taken a DB DeJuan Tribble DB from BC / Kevin Smith RB from CFU / Mike Hart / Steve Slaton RB West Virginia / Chris Johnson RB from East carolina / Brad Cottam TE from Tennessee/ John Carlson TE from Noter Dame / Shawn Crable Is 6′5 250 and runs a 4.6 40 can be used at OLB or DE
Round 4- Shawn Crable / Erin Henderson MLB from Maryland 6′3 245 runs 4.8 40 and was a tackling machine at Maryland / Dennis Dixon we all know what he can do and I think he would have been a 1st or 2nd rounder had he not got hurt.
Round 5- Jamar Adams 6′2 215 hard hitting safety from of course Michigan / Chilo Rachal OG from USC 6′4′ 315 and that whole line at USC was awsome
Brandon Flowers DB from Vigina Tech / Patrick Lee DB from Auburn/ Chevis Jackson DB from LSU / Owen Schmitt FB West Virginia the guy is a passing and running blocking machine
Round 6- Adam Kraus OG from Michigan 6′6 300 / James Blair OT from Western Michigan 6′3 345 seen him play live at Western he was a beast / Darnell Terrel DB from Missouri 6′2 205 runs 4.4 40 / Wesley Woodyard MLB/OLB from Kentucky 6′ 220 runs 4.45 40
Round 7- Ryan Mundy S from West Virginia / Maurice Purify WR “yes a WR” could return kicks was awsome at Nebraska / Marcus Howard DE from Georgia is small but fast and strong / Kerry Brown OG Appalachian State 6′5′ 305 Michigan couldn’t get past him / Ahtyba Rubin DT Iowa State / Nate Robinson DT Akron / Steve coleman DT Oklahoma
If they read this hopefully they have the same plan or close to it! This draft could be the best in Lions history!
Forgot to put possibly trade Rogers to Oakland and the 15th pick for their pick
Also Chad Henne as a possibly 3rd or 4th rounder. He is not agile but is more agile than Kitna. I think he would be a good fit in Detroit cause he has a nice deep ball and is a great pocket quaterback.
If they can get rid of Roy Williams who is not going to re-sign here they could take Mario Manningham in the 2nd round. Millen would be happy because he is a WR.
Yeah I like the Lions a little by the way.
haha ryan let me say this…i am a michigan fan too but the odds of the lions picking up like seven wolverines are not good… i dont wanna trade up because it seems like you gotta sell your soul these days to move up….
also i have sirius radio and have heard roy williams talk a few times and everytime it seems like he loves the city of detroit he didnt like the trade rumors at all….
big baby rogers i figured something had to break… i’m almost not sweating it hopefully Cody can stay healthy in the middle of the d line
first round we either gotta stay put and get a o linemen like baker or otah(who i havent seen yet) or i wouldnt mind trading to the end of the round and still gettin a stud lineman( also have you seen sedrick ellis from usc wow dude is sick)
second round i do love ikegwoudu… he locked mario up… then maybe get some more linemen
i remember a few years back when the jets got ferguson and nick mangold in the first to rounds… its not a “fun” draft but man that would really help right now… maybe a left tackle and a right guard….
also with your tight end pick of cottam… thats all well and good.. i know he is an all around good tight end but i think the position is changing.. we have big bulky blockers (fitzsimmons and mchugh) but i want a big athletic end almost a reciever… i really like rucker from mizzou the guy i wanted stayed in college… beckum from wisconsin impressed the heck outta me…
i just think the draft is so deep i just want like twelve picks haha
….
As far as free agency goes, the Lions need to pick up one, if not two of these guys:
CB: Marcus Trufant, Asante Samuel
OL: Jordan Gross, Max Starks, Alan Faneca
LB: Lance Briggs
DL: Albert Haynesworth
RB: Julius Jones, Justin Fargas
I would prefer signing Jordan Gross and Albert Haynesworth, but should another large salary be given out to another DT?
Trade Shaun Rogers for a third round pick, and Roy Williams for Dallas’ #22 pick from Cleveland (he’s leaving after next year, anyways.)
Therefore, the draft…
#15 Aqib Talib CB Kansas
#22 (via Dallas) Dan Connor LB Penn State
#45 Derrick Harvey DE Florida
3rd Rd pick (via Rogers Trade) Jermichael Finley TE UT
#76 Steve Slaton HB W. Virginia
#107 Adam Kraus OG Michigan
#138 Dexter Jackson WR App. State
Brief Overview of Roster:
QB Kitna/Stanton/Late Rd pick(Brennan/Dixon in rd 6?)
HB Jones/Slaton/Duckett/Calhoun
WR Johnson/McDonald/Furrey/Jackson/
TE Campbell/Fitzsimmons
OL Backus/Muliatalo/Raiola/Woody/Gross/Kraus/Scott/Peterman/Saipea
DL Harvey/Redding/Haynesworth/White/Cody/DeVries/Smith
LB Bailey/Connors/Sims/Lenon/Lehman
DB Talib/Wilson/Bullocks/Kennedy
I agree Jordan Gross or Trufant would be awsome pick ups. I think Samuals is going to want way too much.
I hope they get more for Rodgers than a 3rd rounder. They shouldn’t have released this info yet and waited till either draft day or right before. All they did was hurt his value.
I would get rid of Roy Williams and Kevin Jones If we can.
I do not think they will resign Baily.
And they way overpaid for Redding so can’t get rid of him.
I am surprized no one comlained about my PAC MAN idea ?
haha the pac man idea was too far out there… im sure the entire nfl already knew about the rodgers thing before they even leaked it… we werent going to get anything for it…
i heard lance briggs could sign a deal with the bears…
samuels is gonna want bookoo bucks nate clements just got 8 year/80 mil and asante is young as hell…
i love mike’s draft ideas except no way in hell harvey will be there mid second round i wish…
but i dont wanna trade roy… you say he is gonna leave but all i have heard is how much he loves being in detroit… also what would be wrong with drafting a quarterback in the later rounds… flacco ainge i agree nothing before round four but i dont think kitna is the future and if staton is then a little competition wont hurt….
the more i watch sedrick ellis i want him so bad but no way he is there at 15…
My draft was pretty similar to yours Mike hopefully the Lions are on the same page as us.
If you break mine down it was pretty much this:
#15 Aquib Talib DB Kansas
#45 I don’t think Harvey is there so a RB Chris Johnson HB East Carolina
(3rd from Rodgers trade) Shawn Crable OLB MI
#76 Erin Henderson MLB Maryland
#107 Dennis Dixon QB Oregon
#138 Jamar Adams S MI
#175 Chilo Rachal OG USC
#206 Adam Kraus OG MI/ Jack Ikegwuonu DB Wisconsin
Have you guys seen that Chris Johnson guy from East Carolina. I have seen him in the Senior practices. He is like 5′10 205 and runs a 4.28 40. That is crazy fast for his size. He looked good in practices too
I know Roy says he loves Detroit but he is from around Dallas you know he hates the cold and He wants to win and be the #1 receiver and for as much as they gave Johnson he better be the #1 receiver pretty soon. If he leaves I think he would try to sign with Dallas right as they are getting rid of TO. But our luck he would end up somewhere crazy like with the Colts and put up crazy number. I don’t think Harrison has much left.
I just saw that DB from Wisconsin just blew out a knee.He just lost out on a lot of money. Not good but I would take him in the late late rounds
Ryan and Jake, great insight to the Lions needs. Think Millen will figure it out this year and draft keepers that contribute for years to come?
u know i look at the stud teams in the league like the patriots and colts and i look at how they draft and they never come away with hiesmen trophy winners or hyped up jarmarcus russell’s but they just draft guys that just work… look at the colts entire offensive skill positions… or the pats defensive line…. seymour ty warren wilfork and then vrabel and samuels… those guys werent monsters in college just good… i am tired of having the flashiest picks i just want guys that work….
also i really like the guy from wisconsin but as a lions fan i dont want guys who already have bum knees haha it seem like they get injured on their own good enough…
i didnt think much of him before but what did you think about forte in the senior bowl.. he seemed like a stud…
when we draft a linebacker i want a middlebacker to push ernie and boss on the outside.. those guys could be some of the fastest backers in the league…
also i think i might start a sedrick ellis trevor laws fan club those guys are studs… i think the combine will drop their value because they arent the tallest or biggest guys but ellis is lightning quick and laws just gets the job done ( laws was two tackles away from breaking the notre dame all time tackle record this year AS A DT)
I know all you guys have good idea’s and all but, the best draft for Detroit would be
R1- Dominique Rogers-Cromartie CB TSU/ size and speed, and man can he pick off passes
R2*- Gosder Cherilus OT BC/ Great talent, will be a starter for years to come
R2- Kevin Smith RB UCF/ He can litterally carry a team
R4- Chevis Jackson CB LSU/ Great value at Coner real late
R5- Dennis Dixon QB Oregon/ because Stanton will FAIL at being the single caller
R6- Art Carmody K Louisville/ its about time to get a new kicker
R7- Andre Fluellen DT FSU/ underated talent this late is a great pick up and needed depth
*- DT Shaun Rogers trade to Jets for
MLB Johnathan Vilma/ could most likely happen
Free-agent pick ups
1. Jake Scott RG Colts/ Protects Peyton Manning
2.(long shot) Terrell Suggs DE/OLB Ravens/ just flat out DA!
3. Tommy Kelly DT Raiders/ won’t cost much do to coming off injury and can play DE at 300Ibs.
4. Randy Starks DT Titans/ another low cost DT
Trades
1.DT Rogers Trade- in draft section
2.Roy Williams WR for a 2009 1st rounder
3.Cory Redding DT for a 2009 3rd rounder
4.Fernando Bryant CB for a 2009 3rd rounder
5.Kevin Jones RB for a 2009 4th rounder
All these trades should build us up to be a real contender
ill tell you what man i love your first two rounds i think recievers in the league are way too big these days corners need to start gettin bigger so cromartie is the man… cherilus impressed the heck outta me at the senior bowl…
the only thing i dont really agree with is how trade happy you got haha.. rogers and williams seem like they might come true but redding will be a free agent if we dont sign him so we wont get any draft picks from him…
the later rounds are a toss up for me….
i would love to come away with a corner, offensive tackle and defensive linemen in the first three rounds… in no particular order although i do like cromartie…
trevor laws would be a freaking steal in the third… he just gets the job done… if we started cromartie, cherilus, laws i would go crazy….
the later rounds are just whatever the war room wants… i can see us gettin another quarterback..
what do you guys think of michigan’s qb coach coming to the lions… any chance they draft henne…. although i have been seeing henne as a mid to late second rounder… i dont see the lions going qb two years in a row…
I would have to disagree with Phil on some of the Picks.
Aquib Talib has 20.lbs on Rogers-Cromartie and is the same height and run the same 40 time.
Also he played at Kansas with a spotlight on the team that was in the TOP 5. He was an impact player in the big games and the defensive leader. Played in the the BIG 12 not the (ohio valley confrence) like TSU.
Just think he is more ready for the NFL.
The more I see of Kenny Phillips from MIAMI the more I like if he is at 15 i would take him.6′2 212 4.5 40yd.He is like a little smaller version of the late great Sean Taylor.
I also do not think they need a Ol in the second. Just because this draft is so deep with good defensive players available into at least the third round.
I think the team has too many needs to take OL that early. Can pick quality veterans up easy in Free Agency
The Lions defense is horrid. There is no other way to say it. I would take a LB or 2, DB and HB in the other 2nd rounder and in the 3rd and 4th.
I really like the Dennis Dixon Pick.
I like the HB pick too. I lke both Kevin Smith and Chris Johnson there.
I don’t see Henne comming to Detroit at all.
I think Atlanta “sorry chad”
The Jets trade is great if Vilma is healthy.
he is an awsome MLB and with Sims and hopefully “Shawn Crable” on the other side(GET RID OF BAILY) or be a backup. He is a bust.
The LB’s setup would be the fastest and strongest in the NFL.
Shawn Crable -Weak side LB = 6′5 245 and Fast
Jonathan Vilma -Middle LB = 6′1 235 and Fast
Ernie Sims -Strong Side LB = 6′1 235 and Fast
I would put Crable at MLB and Vima on the weak side. Crable is better in coverage than Vilma and little bigger. Both Sims and Vilma are tackling machines on the outsides.
wow boss bailey is a bust??? okay he isnt his brother but man it seems like he is always making plays in the passing game… i dont know i just like him…
i would love a dude like vilma….
i dont see why people like these quarterbacks like dixon and pat white or tebow… to me they are just system quarterbacks… even brennan… i dont want dixon unless it is fifth round…
talib and cromartie are tied at one for me i would have no problem coming out of the first round with either… although cromartie is more versatile(played a little safety) cromartie has ridiculous ball skills….. the only player i dont want is mckelvin in the first… in the second thats cool but man i saw an interview of him and the dude cant talk… he is from like some hick town and it seriously sounds like he is special ed… and they showed how many balls he breaks up but he only had like three interceptions all year because he cant get a freaking ball
hey let me know what you guys think about running backs i see you guys loving kevin johnson and smith
but what about the guys that got it done in college but just might not hit the measurables…. rice (too small and takes too many hits) mike hart(too small) ill admit im a michigan fan but if either of these guys are there in the fourth i hope we scoop them up
i like Dixon because he is a duel threat.
If nobody is open they can gain yards instead of getting sacked like some QB’s(KITNA).Especially with the Lions offensive line. I like Dixon also because he can throw the ball. He is good deep, short or on the run.
I did not mean Baily was a total bust but he was suppose to be an impact 1st round linebacker that dropped into the second round.
He is not terrible. He is just average. He just gets paid way too much and should not be the starting strong side linebacker. i would like to keep him just not as a starter. I always thought he could be way better than he plays cause he was dominate at Georgia. i just don’t trust him enough to be the only guy left to stop a running back from going around the end.
Do you ?
I think it would be awsome to move him inside.
RUN A 3-4 or use him to give other LB breathers.
Then you could have this
Strong OLB = Ernie Sims 6′0 235
Weak OLB = Jonathan Vilma 6′1 235
Middle LB’s = Shawn Crable 6′5 245
and Boss Baily 6′3 235
That would be awsome!
Even better than my first LB set-up
But the great marinelli run the Tampa 2 defense.
Yeah I like Kevin Smith and Chris Johnson at RB.
Kevin Smith is just a beast.6′1 215 4.6 40yrd. He ran for 2500 yards playing good teams. What else do I have to say.
Chris Johnson is a freak. Runs 4.25 sec 40yrd at 5′10 205.lbs
Darren McFadden is the second fastest RB in the draft and run a 4.45 40 yrd at 6′2 210
YOU DO THE MATH ?
i think Hart may be hurt too much and Rice is real small.
I think the lions should draft daren mcfaden not just becaus he is a big name because he is big and fast that is what the lions need not one specifc area of running the ball but he can turn it on the outside and get good yards and if the lions draft a few lions lineman i think he can do grate. but the lions shouldent draft a small running back they need a sorta big guy.
Kevin Jones is a good back. He just doesn’t have the blocking he needs to get out of the backfield. If you watched, kitna was on his butt a lot too, not that he is any good anyway! They need someone else to protect the quarterback, instead of Foster. The lions should take a first round pick on a lineman. I also feel that the lions really don’t need a Tight End. Campbell will be back and ready to go. What they need to do, is start all over on defense, in their secondary. No one back there has enough talent to stay, except maybe Kennedy.
I’d go for Ryan Clady from Boise State. Then work on that defense. I also think they could take Henne from Michigan maybe in the 3rd round. He is not the fasted but a lot faster than Kitna, and he has a better arm on him.
no Aqib Talib or Cromarte if he is available they need a solid DB
i am a fan of the lions drafting mendanhall in the first round, only because duckett and kjones are both gone. tatum bell is not a work horse. however, OT is a huge need. you can get good O-lineman for not alot of value in trades though. but lets be honest, whens the last time millen has done somthing good in the offseason in the past five years? and with the secondary ok for now with offseason deals, jerod mayo is an obvious pick in my book for round 2. he fits perfectly in the lions defensive schemes and is the fastest ILB in the draft. he should compliment sims well. i hate kitna, but with a line, i think he can easily get the job done, especially with calvin johnson, roy williams, and potentially mendenhall. i dont see how he can possibly fail with an improved line.
anyone who thinks that the lions need anything but an offensive lineman is an idiot. I would hate to be that dudes friend. I would probably have to smack him square in the face. PROTECT KITNA, MAKE HOLES FOR BELL, WIN BALL GAMES
I think the lions made themselves worse with that 1st round I don’t know what Matt Millen is on but it must be some good stuff
DIZON ??????? Are you serious ?
They could have drafted him in the 4th or 5th or atleast wait till the 3rd
How bout Dan Conner, Shawn Crable, Chad Henne ?
Well once again the 2008 draft did not work out as planned and we went 0-16 so…..
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DRAFT SAM BRADFORD IN 2009 DRAFT
If he doesn’t come out don’t take Stafford he is to mistake prone and could not even throw efficiently with what was suppose to be a Top 5 Georgia team and with a awsome supporting cast just wait for Bradford next year and pick up some other good players.
Maybe trade down a little and try to get Rey Malaluga or Brandon Spikes and James Laurenitus with Ernie Sims and them that instanly makes the defense a lot better
I would even take a good TE and WR maybe in the second and third round to take some pressure of Calvin so he isn’t getting triple teamed every down
Taking an O lineman that high is way too risky and are way way overpaying for a lineman when you can get decent lineman as free agents that are already proven players
Look at Jake Long he is a freak of nature but was he that good this year to be getting paid that much …..NO
