Detroit Lions 7-8 vs Green Bay Packers 12-3
Sunday December 30, 2007 @ 1:00, Green Bay, Wisconsin
Lambeau Field
TV: Fox Network with Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston and Tony Siragusa
Lots of rumbling in Detroit about how Offensive Coordinator Mike Martz will be leaving the Lions after the season. Some say he will resign and others insist he will be fired. One thing everyone agrees on is that the Lions Offense has not performed as well as hoped during the 2007 season. Martz was questioned about his future earlier this week and would not address what the future holds. He did say the offense has improved and is better then last season but not as good as he had hoped. He took full responsibility for the offense not being as good as expected:
“I’m disappointed that we haven’t achieved what I hoped we would,” Martz said. “We’ve made good progress from last year. We really have. But not as much as I would have anticipated.
“So from that standpoint, I’m disappointed, not in anything other than that. The only person to blame is myself, and that’s how I feel about that.”

Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger thinks the Lions will end the Season with another poor road performance. The Packers have nothing to play for as they are locked into the 2nd seed in the NFC Playoffs. Green Bay will ensure most starters get plenty of rest and will play the reserves extensively. Detroit with a league worst defense including allowing the most points in the NFL will struggle containing even the Packers backups. Even if Detroit is defeated by the Packers they will finish with their best record since the 2000 season at 7-9. If the Lions somehow beat the Packers and end with an 8-8 record there will be cause for optimism heading to 2008.
