- NFL Power Rankings for Week 17
The Detroit Lions Power Rankings are back to about where they were at the beginning of the season after breaking their six game losing streak. The Week 17 NFL Power Rankings by the entities that do the Weekly NFL Power Rankings are here. Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger is providing this NFL Power Rankings post as a regular weekly feature during the NFL Regular Season. I am using the same 5 NFL Power Rankings sites each week. The 5 are:
- Fox Sports NFL Power Rankings
- ESPN NFL Power Rankings
- Cold Hard Football Facts NFL Power Rankings
- CBS Sportsline Power Rankings
- Peter King Monday Morning QB - SI

Peter Schrager moved the Lions down to 25th this week after having them 24th last week. Schrager talks about how this is the best season of Matt Millen’s reign:
Coming into Sunday’s Lions-Chiefs game, the two teams had combined for an unspeakable 13-game losing streak. Someone had to win. Better yet, one team had to not lose. T.J. Duckett ran for 102 yards as the Lions broke their six-game losing streak with a 25-20 win. With the victory, the Lions locked up their best record in seven years under team president Matt Millen. Says a bit about his reign, no?

ESPN NFL Power rankings are developed by ESPN NFL staff writers John Clayton, Len Pasquarelli, Matt Mosley, Jeffri Chadiha and Mike Sando; Scouts Inc. Insider Jeremy Green; and ESPN.com NFL senior editor Mike McAllister.
The ESPN NFL Staff moved the Lions up to 21st this week up from 22nd in the Week 16 NFL Power Rankings. They also had something to say about the Matt Millen era:
Imagine if the Lions’ tale of two half-seasons were reversed, and that they’re about to wrap up a 6-2 mark in the second half. Would Lions fans feel better about their team’s future? Maybe. Of course, Matt Millen’s still in charge.

Jonathon Comey has the Lions at 22nd in the Week 17 NFL Power Rankings, up a spot from the Week 16 Power Rankings. Comey gave some kudos to RB T.J. Duckett of the Lions:
Duckett’s 102 yards in a 25-20 win over KC were also a career high and the second time the 2002 first-round pick has passed the century mark in his career.

Pete Prisco did not drop the Lions and kept them at 19th in the NFL Power Rankings this week for the 3rd consecutive week. He mentions that at least the Lions will not lose 10 games:
They won’t get the 10 victories Jon Kitna promised. But they’re victory Sunday means they won’t get 10 losses either.

King once again did not include the Lions in his Fine 15 this week. Maybe next year for the Lions to get into the Fine 15 and stay there throughout the season.
Detroit finishes the season this Sunday at Lambeau Field in Green Bay to face the Packers with MVP Candidate QB Brett Favre looking to remain unbeaten at home against the Lions for his career.
