  • Detroit Lions would Like to Win against Kansas City Chiefs

Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger can only say the Lions would like to win this week against the Kansas City Chiefs. NFC Playoff hopes were eliminated with the Minnesota Vikings win on Monday Night. All that is left for the Lions is to try and finish the NFL season with 8 wins and 8 losses.  Detroit ends its season in Green Bay next week trying to win in GB for the 1st since the 1991 season.

  • Detroit Lions Offense vs Kansas City Chiefs Defense

Detroit QB Jon Kitna threw 5 interceptions last week in San Diego and the Lions abandoned the run after falling behind. Detroit will try to run the ball against the Kansas City Chiefs with RB Kevin Jones going against the NFL’s 26th best rushing defense. Kansas City rely on LBs Donnie Edwards, Napoleon Harris and Derrick Johnson to control Jones and backup RB T.J. Duckett. Kitna will be throwing to WRs Shaun McDonald, Mike Furrey and Calvin Johnson making use of the NFL’s 7th best pass offense. KC will counter with the Leagues 8th best passing defense led by CBs Ty Law and Patrick Surtain. Kansas City will try and get pressure on QB Jon Kitna with DE Jared Allen going up against the Lions T Jeff Backus.

  • Kansas City Chiefs Offense vs Detroit Lions Defense

Kansas City will have QB Brodie Croyle with the NFL’s 23rd ranked passing attack looking to exploit Detroit’s 31st rated pass defense. Croyle will utilize wideouts Samie Parker and Dwayne Bowe. Croyle also will be able to use Pro Bowl TE Tony Gonzalez as TEs always are open against the Lions Tampa Two defense. Kansas City’s running game will be missing RB Larry Johnson and will use RB Kolby Smith to try and improve the Leagues 30th best running game. Detroit will have LBs Ernie Sims and Paris Lenon to control the Chiefs ground attack. The Lions will try and pressure QB Brodie Croyle with DE’s Dewayne White and Jared DeVries. Detroit’s defense with the Tampa Two scheme has not been successful this season and is ranked 31st overall and 31st against the pass.

  • ‘Lion Eyes’ Blogger’s Thoughts

I think the Lions will struggle with the Chiefs but squeak out a win. Kansas City is playing a QB Brodie Croyle that has not won a game in the NFL. Detroit has lost 6 in a row and has no hope of winning next week in Green Bay, so this is the only opportunity to finish with less than 10 losses. Detroit should be able to run the ball against the Chiefs and with their improved offensive line play will protect QB Jon Kitna to allow the passing game to have some success. The Lions seem to make opposing QBs look like Pro Bowl QBs so probably Croyle will have his best day as an NFL QB. Check back tomorrow when I have all the predictions.

 Las Vegas Odds

    • Detroit is a -4.5 point Favorite to beat the Chiefs and stop the losing
