- NFL Power Rankings for Week 16
The Detroit Lions Power Rankings are spiraling downward after their 6th loss in a row. The Week 16 NFL Power Rankings by the entities that do the Weekly NFL Power Rankings are here. Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger is providing this NFL Power Rankings post as a regular weekly feature during the NFL Regular Season. I am using the same 5 NFL Power Rankings sites each week. The 5 are:
- Fox Sports NFL Power Rankings
- ESPN NFL Power Rankings
- Cold Hard Football Facts NFL Power Rankings
- CBS Sportsline Power Rankings
- Peter King Monday Morning QB - SI

Peter Schrager moved the Lions down to 24th this week after having them 20th last week. Schrager wonders when the Tigers start:
The Lions lost their sixth straight game on Sunday, falling to the Chargers in San Diego, 51-13. Jon Kitna tied a career high with five interceptions, while the Lions were outrushed by 274-26. Both LaDainian Tomlinson and Darren Sproles ripped off 100-yard/two-touchdown days in the blowout. It may be time to start thinking about Miguel Cabrera and the Tigers for Lions fans.

ESPN NFL Power rankings are developed by ESPN NFL staff writers John Clayton, Len Pasquarelli, Matt Mosley, Jeffri Chadiha and Mike Sando; Scouts Inc. Insider Jeremy Green; and ESPN.com NFL senior editor Mike McAllister.
The ESPN NFL Staff only dropped the Lions down to 22nd this week down from 20th in the Week 15 NFL Power Rankings. They put in another quote from Lions T Damien Woody about giving up 50 points for the 2nd time this season:
Damien Woody told the F-P that “a professional football team shouldn’t give up 50 points. That’s something that happens in college. And we’ve done it twice.” If nothing else, the Lions win this year’s award for Biggest Tease After 6-2 Start.

Jonathon Comey has the Lions at 23rd in the Week 16 NFL Power Rankings, down a spot from the Week 15 Power Rankings. Comey wonders how the Lions could have turned the ball over 6 times while only having possession for 18 minutes:
In latest demoralizing loss, Lions committed six turnovers vs. SD despite holding the ball for just 18:28.

Pete Prisco did not drop the Lions and kept them at 19th in the NFL Power Rankings this week. He wonders how Matt Millen keeps his job:
They have crashed down hard. Again, why is it that Matt Millen keeps his job? They were once 6-2. Boy, that’s a real fall.

King once again did not include the Lions in his Fine 15 this week. Remember earlier when King said the Lions were frauds. I guess he was right.
Detroit comes home to Ford Field this week to play the Kansas City Chiefs.
