- NFL Power Rankings for Week 15
The Detroit Lions Power Rankings hopefully have hit rock bottom. Five straight losses has them at the bottom third of the teams in the NFL Power Rankings. The Week 15 NFL Power Rankings by the entities that do the Weekly NFL Power Rankings are here. Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger is providing this NFL Power Rankings post as a regular weekly feature during the NFL Regular Season. I am using the same 5 NFL Power Rankings sites each week. The 5 are:
- Fox Sports NFL Power Rankings
- ESPN NFL Power Rankings
- Cold Hard Football Facts NFL Power Rankings
- CBS Sportsline Power Rankings
- Peter King Monday Morning QB - SI

Peter Schrager moved the Lions up a spot this week to 19th after dropping them to 20th last week. Schrager doesn’t hold out much hope for the Lions and the playoffs:
At the midway point of the season, the Lions were 6-2 and on the fast track to a playoff spot. Five weeks later, they’re 6-7 and on the outside looking in. Jon Kitna had his team up 14 points on the Cowboys late in the third quarter, only to see the Lions fall at home, 28-27. Detroit hasn’t made the playoffs since Matt Millen took charge of the franchise in 2001. Looks like that streak will continue another year.

ESPN NFL Power rankings are developed by ESPN NFL staff writers John Clayton, Len Pasquarelli, Matt Mosley, Jeffri Chadiha and Mike Sando; Scouts Inc. Insider Jeremy Green; and ESPN.com NFL senior editor Mike McAllister.
The ESPN NFL Staff dropped the Lions down to 20th this week down from 18th in the Week 14 NFL Power Rankings. They put in a quote from Lions T Damien Woody about wins:
After a heartbreaking loss to Dallas, Damien Woody told the Free Press: “The problem with the Lions is that it’s acceptable to put up a fight. At the end of the day, it’s not acceptable. It’s all about wins. I don’t care about putting up a fight.”

Jonathon Comey has the Lions at 22nd in the Week 15 NFL Power Rankings, down 2 spots from the Week 14 Power Rankings. Comey really took a shot at the Lions with this gem:
You can’t spell “Detroit Lions†without “l-o-s-e-r.â€

Pete Prisco dropped the Lions to 19th in the NFL Power Rankings this week from 16th in Week 14. He says the Lions needs to shore up the defense:
Hard to believe this is the same team that opened 6-2. They have to improve that defense in 2008.

King once again did not include the Lions in his Fine 15 this week. I assume the only way the Lions will get back to King’s Fine 15 is to make the NFC playoffs.
Detroit travels to San Diego this week to play the San Diego Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium. San Diego is looking to clinch the AFC West Division with a win against the Lions.
Cast your vote in this weeks Poll, Please.

Mike,
you still do the best power rankings in the business.
Had to vote for my Lions in the who will win poll.
It was to celebrate shaving off the last of my hair today.
Did not get to watch the Lions last week, but listened on the radio.
How did they blow that game.
But who cares, the fact that they had an excellent Dallas team on the ropes speaks volumes for the Lions and Marinelli.
Now if only Millen and Ford would leave.
Hi James, good to hear from you. Glad to reading your excellent blog at squib kick. As for the loss to Cowboys, too many field goals not enough TDs. Always something with our favorite team. MSU hoopsters doing well though.
