  • Did Lions Fast Start to Season Contribute to Current Tailspin?

In a story on the Detroit Lions web site by Chrissie Wywrot she discusses how the Lions started the season with something to prove but then recently, after early season success, have not played with the same intensity shown with their 6-2 start. Safety Kenoy Kennedy provided these quotes for the story:

“When you were at the bottom of the barrel, you came out fighting,” said safety Kenoy Kennedy. “You came out scratching and clawing and doing whatever you’ve got to do to try to get to the top.

“Then when you get a little success, for whatever reason — it’s just human nature I guess — you just sit back and don’t work as hard or don’t watch as much film as you used to. Guys just have to get back to that as far as scratching and clawing and doing those things — whatever it takes to try to get a win.”
“A couple guys were here last year that were on the team when we beat Dallas,” said Kennedy. “I’m sure we’ll go back and watch the film and see guys running around with no care in the world, just throwing their body everywhere and doing whatever it took.

“We’ve just got to get back to that. I think we’ll step up to the challenge. We’ve got some guys moving up. We lost a couple guys last week — we lost Roy (Williams) and (LaMarcus) Hicks — a couple guys. We have some new faces in there, have some old faces in there — so I think we’ll step up.”

The quotes just prove to Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger what I always believed, the Lions can not handle success. Over the years Detroit has always had trouble playing well consistently. Seems like whenever they would win a few games in a row and the NFL ‘Experts’ had taken notice and the Lions would be expected to win a game, they would invaribly lose. This quote by Kennedy just gets to the root of the problem for the Lions. Somehow the organization must develop a mind set that they are not satisfied with a few wins and everyone must continue to work hard. Until then the Lions will always be the ‘Same old Lions’ to all NFL watchers.

  • Your ‘Lion Eyes’ Blogger’s Thoughts

Detroit will continue to see their season fall apart as the Cowboys come to Ford Field and move the ball up and down the turf and easily cover the 10.5 point spread. QB Tony Romo will find easy pickings going against the Lions beat up secondary. WR Terrell Owens should have another banner day. The only glimmer of hope I can provide is if somehow the Cowboys, after their big win against the Packers last Thursday, don’t bring the intensity needed for an NFL opponent. Not likely but really it is the Lions only hope.

Tomorrow’s post will be the preview of Sunday’s game.

Hi Michael, I was wondering if you’d like to do a small project with me, and answer 5 questions related to Sunday’s game against the Cowboys. With all of the controversy now, I think it would be fun.

Email me at thelandryhat@hotmail.com if interested. I’d like to do it today.
