- QB Jon Kitna Targeted by Cowboy DefendersÂ
Dallas Cowboy LB Bradie James and CB Terence Newman have made statements indicating they will be after Lions QB Jon Kitna when the teams play on Sunday. The Cowboy players were miffed at Kitna as a result of comments Kitna made after Detroit beat Dallas last season. In a interview with a Seattle radio station last year Kitna said that Newman was not as good as Seatle CB Marcus Truffant and that it seemed that at times James didn’t know where he was at on the field. Both of the players responded this week in discussions with the media. Here is what Newman said:
“Basically, what it boils down to is, you’ve got to watch what you say,†Newman told SIRIUS NFL Radio. “Your mouth can’t write checks that your (backside) can’t cash. That’s what it comes down to. Everybody’s going to see those quotes. He better just hope I don’t blitz off the edge because I’ve got 15, 25, 30 – however much it would be for a fine. I’ve got that much for one fine. Revenge will be sweet definitely.â€
Â
James had this to say:
“I thought about it a little bit after he said it, and then I let it go,†Newman said. “Then I see Detroit was on the schedule again, and I was like, ‘You know what? We go to Detroit. Kitna said all these things. We’ve got a chance to kind of put our foot in his butt.’ We’ve got to go out and do it, though. We can’t talk about it. We’ve got to be about it.â€

- Williams and Jones to Leave the Lions?
Earlier this week a story on Mlive indicated the writer’s opinion that Lions WR Roy Williams and RB Kevin Jones are likely to leave the Lions. Both players are eligible for Free Agency after the 2008 season. The writer indicated that Williams would like to get closer to his home in Texas and Jones is unhappy with his dimished role in the Lions offense. Here is a link to the story. Willams and Jones Likely to Leave
Detroit plays the Cowboys Sunday in Detroit. Dallas coming off last Thursday’s win against the Green Bay Packers are looking for redemption for allowing the Lions to beat them last New Year’s Eve in Dallas. The Lions played horribly in Minnesota last week and were routed. Nobody with any credibility gives the Lions any chance of upsetting the Cowboys this season. Hopefully Detroit is not just playing out the string and will give the Cowboys a solid challenge. I won’t invest any of my money on that the Lions will cover the generous point spread though.

Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger thinks the Lions will perform better than they did last week at Minnesota. Of course they really can’t perform much worse. But, even with a better performance they will have much difficulty keeping close to the Cowboys. The Cowboys just have too much talent in all phases of the game for the Lions to contend with. Probably we will hear from Troy Aikman about the ‘Same old Lions’. Remember when Troy was here for the Thanksgiving Day game and kept repeating that Coach Rod Marinelli wanted to show to the nation’s Football Fans this team was not the ‘Same old Lions’. Especially if the game gets out of hand, which is entirely possible, Aikman will talk about maybe they are the ‘Same old Lions’. No need for me to talk about the NFC Playoffs as the Lions are essentially a non factor in the NFC after their 4 straight losses. If they Lions don’t win another game this year, which is looking likely, they will probably end up last in the NFC North.
