Detroit Lions 6-5 vs Minnesota Vikings 5-6
Sunday December 2, 2007 @ 1:00 Metrodome
TV: Fox Network with Dick Stockton and Brian Baldinger
- Injuries to Scott and Wilson End Season
Offensive Tackle Jonathon Scott and Cornerback Stanley Wilson were both put on Injured Reserve this week. Wilson injured his knee on the opening kickoff of the Thanksgiving Day game with the Green Bay Packers. Scott also was injured against Green Bay when he suffered a hamstring injury. Detroit signed CB Ramzee Robinson and OT Barry Stokes to fill the roster spots vacated by Wilson and Scott.

Detroit plays the Vikings Sunday at the Metrodome and the Vikings plan on getting back into the NFC Playoff Race with a win against the Lions. Minnesota routed the New York Giants in Week 12 action a week after the Giants beat Detroit. The Lions must correct a lot of issues if they hope to leave Minnesota with a win. Detroit currently holds the 6th and last NFC Playoff spot by themselves. All the NFL ’Experts’ continually say ‘if the Playoffs started today’ the Lions would be in. Detroit has their fate in their own hands. Win the 5 remaining games and they are in, win 4 and probably in, win 3 and they probably tie for the last spot and lose a tiebreaker. Any less than 3 wins and the Lions really have no hope. Â

Your ‘Lion Eyes’blogger sees this game as the one that will prove to all, that this Rod Marinelli team is not the ‘Same Old Lions’. Of course that will be the case only if the Lions win. Isn’t it great for a December Lion game to have more meaning than just, can they cover? You being a Lion fan probably know the Detroiters have not won in Minnesota since 1997, when Bobby Ross was the Coach and the Lions won 14-13. Somehow Marinelli must get the Lions past that history and come up with a win or the Playoff dream will be gone for another year. If they lose it will be a Monday with the Lion Parody ‘Isn’t it Moronic’ by Alanis Morissette on WDFN played endlessly. If they win the airwaves will be filled with Lion Playoff talk. I have one question: Playoffs! Playoffs! are you kidding me? Playoffs! Sorry Coach Mora had to do it.
