  • NFL Power Rankings for Week 12

The Detroit Lions have fallen again this week, as should be expected after 2 straight sub-par performances, in all the Week 12 NFL Power Rankings by the entities that do the Weekly NFL Power Rankings. Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger is providing this NFL Power Rankings post as a regular weekly feature during the NFL Regular Season. I am using the same 5 NFL Power Rankings sites each week. The 5 are:

  1. Fox Sports NFL Power Rankings
  2. ESPN NFL Power Rankings
  3. Cold Hard Football Facts NFL Power Rankings
  4. CBS Sportsline Power Rankings
  5. Peter King Monday Morning QB - SI

Peter Schrager dropped the Lions to 14th, down 2 places this week from week 11 NFL Power Rankings. Schrager is concerned with the Lions strong schedule trying make 10 wins:

Was that 6-2 start too good to be true? Perhaps. Losers of two straight, the Lions enter Thursday’s annual Thanksgiving game in familiar territory — with their fans restless. Detroit’s offense stalled against the Giants, falling to New York 16-10 at home. Jon Kitna predicted 10 wins for his Lions over the summer. They’ve got to win four of their next six to do so. That could be tough.

ESPN NFL Power rankings are developed by ESPN NFL staff writers John Clayton, Len Pasquarelli, Matt Mosley, Jeffri Chadiha and Mike Sando; Scouts Inc. Insider Jeremy Green; and ESPN.com NFL senior editor Mike McAllister.

The ESPN NFL Staff moved the Lions down to 12th this week a drop of 2 spots from 10th in the Week 11 NFL Power Rankings. ESPN is concerned with QB Jon Kitna’s protection:

A private research group recently ranked Detroit as the country’s most dangerous city. No doubt the statistics were influenced by the lack of protection for QB Jon Kitna, who has been sacked a league-leading 40 times.

Jonathon Comey moved the Lions down to 12th in the Week 12 NFL Power Rankings, dropping the Detroiters 3 spots. Jon talks about all the turnovers the Lions committ when they lose.

Pete Prisco moved the Lions down 3 spots to 12th in the NFL Power Rankings this week from 9th in Week 11. He wonders if the Lions are frauds and states the obvious, they have to win this week for any hope for the NFC North:

Are they frauds or just going through a midseason lull? We’ll know more Thursday when they play host to the Green Bay Packers. If they lose, the division race is over.

King has moved the Lions down to 14th in his Fine 15, a free fall of 4 spots from Week 11 Fine 15. King is very concerned about the protection afforded QB Jon Kitna:

If the Lions don’t take the Jon Kitna protection more seriously — Detroit quarterbacks have been sacked 43 times in 10 games, with the dangerous Packers coming to town on Thursday — he won’t last ’til January.

NFL Week 12, of course as you know, brings the Green Bay Packers to Ford Field for the Thanksgiving Day tilt with the Lions. The Pack led by hall of fame QB Brett Farve and his consecutive game streak expect easy picking from a struggling Lion team. After this short week for the Lions they will enjoy 10 days before their next game at Minnesota to play the Vikings.

Tomorrow, with this week having a game on Thursday the Thanksgiving Holiday, I will post a combined Preview and Prediction article. So if you have to know who Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger pics in the Thanksgiving Day game come back to this space Thursday morning.

Cast your vote in this weeks Poll, Please.
