- Lisfranc Injuries to Colts and Chiefs Stars?Â
Rumors are out that Indianapolis Colts DE Dwight Freeney and Kansas City Chief RB Larry Johnson have both suffered Lisfranc injuries to their feet. No official report has come from either team but the net is full of stories. Detroit Lions fans have seen the consequences from having a Lisfranc injury. RB Kevin Jones suffered the injury last December and still is limited to what he is able to do with the Lions during practices. Last week during the game in Arizona, according to Coach Rod Marinelli, Jones suffered some soreness in his foot and played very little in the 2nd half. Here is a clip from one of the stories on the net.
ESPN reported that Freeney might have suffered a Lisfranc injury that will require season-ending surgery.
There also are suspicions around the league, incidentally, that Kansas City Chiefs tailback Larry Johnson might have suffered a Lisfranc injury.

Detroit plays the Giants in an extremely important game to both teams NFC Wildcard playoff hopes. New York lost last week to the Dallas Cowboys and of course you already know the Lions were pasted in the Valley of the Sun by the Arizona Cardinals. New York is making their 1st appearance at Ford Field and their 1st trip to play the Lions at the Lions home field since 1997. Detroit will be attempting to win their 5th straight game at home for the 1st time since 1991. Â

Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger sees this game as an opportunity to prove to all the emerging skeptics that they are a legitimate contender in the NFC playoff race. New York has already beaten 2 teams that routed the Lions, Philadelphia and Washington. With Detroit’s very difficult schedule in their remaining 7 games, the 2nd toughest in the NFL, they almost have win this game to maintain pace for a potential NFC Wildcard playoff spot.

This could be a good game. Kitna has to worry about the excellent Giant pass rushing, he is prone to sacks. The Lions ground game, after last week, is suspect. The Giants have to worry about their porous secondary and fleet receivers could burn them. Giants 24, Lions 17. Kitna sacked six times
Rowdy Richard, thanks for your comment. I hope you are wrong but if Kitna gets sacked 6 times the Lions have no hope, unless NY has lots of turnovers that Lions turn into TDs. Giants ground game will have trouble in Detroit as the Lions rushing d is very good at home.
Lions should win this one, by 17, 34-17. This is the worst secondary the lions have played to date, but the best pass rush. If Kitna doesn;t fumble when he gets sacked (should be around 4 or 5 times)then the lions will win. Plaxico Burress has a bum ankle, and won’t be the dominating receiver he is when healthy. Has practiced only a few times ALL YEAR, and claims the ankle hurts more now than it ever has. Lions should stuff Brandon Jacobs, they can probably limit him to 3.0-3.5 yards per carry. Without a healthy Burress Eli Manning has few targets, look for him to have 2-3 interceptions and maybe a TD throw to Shockey.
Dr. Blaine, thanks for the comment. I sure hope you are right. I worry that if Kitna gets sacked 4 or 5 times than he will fumble a couple times probably. Also if he gets hit that much might have to leave game, he has an achy back.
