- NFL Power Rankings for Week 11
The Detroit Lions fell a little bit, after the loss they suffered in Arizona, in all the Week 11 NFL Power Rankings by the entities that do the Weekly NFL Power Rankings. Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger is providing this NFL Power Rankings post as a regular weekly feature during the NFL Regular Season. I am using the same 5 NFL Power Rankings sites each week. The 5 are:
- Fox Sports NFL Power Rankings
- ESPN NFL Power Rankings
- Cold Hard Football Facts NFL Power Rankings
- CBS Sportsline Power Rankings
- Peter King Monday Morning QB - SI

Peter Schrager dropped the Lions to 12th, a descent of 4 spots, this week from week 10 NFL Power Rankings. Schrager was singing the ‘Same old Lions’ song after Detroit’s showing in the Valley of the Sun:
The Lions entered Sunday’s game with Arizona as winners of three straight and looking like a playoff team. They left Glendale as losers, looking much more like the woeful Lions of recent years than the team we’ve grown accustomed to this season. Turnovers riddled Detroit, as five Lions cough-ups led directly to 17 Cardinals points. At 6-3, Detroit’s still in the NFC Wild Card race. They’ll be tested Sunday against the Giants.

ESPN NFL Power rankings are developed by ESPN NFL staff writers John Clayton, Len Pasquarelli, Matt Mosley, Jeffri Chadiha and Mike Sando; Scouts Inc. Insider Jeremy Green; and ESPN.com NFL senior editor Mike McAllister.
The ESPN NFL Staff moved the Lions down to 10th this week a fall of 2 spots from 8th in the Week 10 NFL Power Rankings. ESPN felt that Detroit needs to run the ball more:
OK, we all know O-Coordinator Mike Martz would rather throw than run. But eight running plays in losing to Arizona? For a minus-18 yards? The second-worst rushing day in franchise history? No wonder so many skeptics remain.

Jonathon Comey moved the Lions down to 9th in the Week 11 NFL Power Rankings, for a drop of 2 spots. Jon indicates the Lions have a very difficult road ahead.

Pete Prisco dropped the Lions only 1 spot to 9th in the NFL Power Rankings this week from 8th in Week 10. He graciously gives the Lions a mulligan for the Cardinal game:
We’ll call what happened at Arizona a mulligan. But if they don’t run it better than they did down there, they will have big problems.

King has moved the Lions down to 10th in his Fine 15, a drop of 2 spots from Week 10 Fine 15. King knew the Lions were going to lose to the Cardinals:
I could feel the Leos losing in the desert. They’re just not good enough yet to just show up and win. By the way, they’ve got the Giants, Packers and Cowboys at home over the next four weeks.
NFL Week 11 will bring the New York Giants to Detroit to face the Lions at Ford Field. This is the beginning of NFL’s 2nd most difficult remaining schedule for the Lions over the last 7 weeks of the season. The Giants lost an important NFC East division matchup last week to the Dallas Cowboys. QB Eli Manning brings the Giants offense in looking to move the ball up and down the field against the Lions injury depleted defense. New York’s defense, who lead the NFL in QB sacks, will expect many more sacks with Defensive Ends Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck pressuring QB Jon Kitna. Another important game for the Lions in their Playoff quest. Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger sure hopes they can correct the woes they had in Arizona and get a win. That would make the Lions 7-3 heading into the Traditional Thanksgiving Matchup with the Green Bay Packers.
