Coach Cullen not Upset with Kitna

Probably you heard about the Halloween costume that QB Jon Kitna wore to a Halloween party on Monday evening. Kitna dressed up as a naked man and his wife Jennifer dressed as a Wendy’s fast food clerk. Kitna was making light of the situation last season when the Lions Defensive Line coach Joe Cullen was arrested for going through a Wendys drive through without any pants on. Cullen had this to say Tuesday when asked if he was upset:

“No, not at all,” Cullen said firmly, shaking his head. “It’s Halloween.”

Kitna explained his reasoning behind the decision to make light of Cullen.

“People who understand an NFL locker room understand that when guys do things, we joke with each other a lot”. “Now, would I have done it last year? No. I think it would have been too close to when it happened”.

“Joe’s somebody that I talk to, and I know how far he’s come, and the changes he made, and the things he’s done in his life.”

Season’s 1st Half ends On Sunday vs Denver

Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger believes this is another important game for the Lions to get a victory. If they survive and come out on top their record at the end of the 1st half of the season will be a very surprising 6-2. I know I for one did not believe they would get more than 5 wins all season. Obviously 6 wins in only 8 games would be a remarkable achievement for this team. As the Lions keep winning, more and more National publications are taking notice. For the 1st time as professional NFL players Denver Bronco CB Champ Bailey will see his brother Detroit Lion LB Boss Bailey on the other side of the field. Detroit and Denver played each other in the 2006 pre-season but neither player was active for the game.

Hanson NFL Special Teams Player of Week

Jason Hanson has been named NFL Special Team Player of the week for his performance on Sunday against the Chicago Bears. Hanson was good on 3 of 4 Field Goal attempts and was able to kick the ball away from Bears kick returner Devin Hester on each of the Lions kickoffs. One of the Field Goals was good from 52 yards. Hanson’s miss was from 26 yards and hit the upright. The miss was only Hanson’s 3rd miss in his 15 year career from inside 30 yards.

Denver Broncos following MNF vs Green Bay

Yes the Bronocs lost to Green Bay in overtime Monday Night, but did you know that since the 2000 season the Broncos have an NFL best 10-1 .909% record on the following Sunday. Lets hope the Lions can make it 10-2 this Sunday and move the winning percentage down to .833%.
