  • Dre Bly Returns to Ford Field

Denver Broncos come to Detroit this Sunday to take on the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. CB Dre Bly who the Lions traded to the Broncos last off season for RB Tatum Bell and T George Foster. Bly returns to Detroit where he played for 4 seasons and was defensive captain in 2006. Other ex-Lions coming in with the Broncos include WR Glenn Martinez, TE Stephen Alexander and RB Paul Smith.

  • Lion # Draft Choice WR Mike Williams Released

WR Mike Williams the Lions #1 draft choice in 2005, 10th overall, who was traded to the Oakland Raiders during the off season for QB Josh McCown and a 4th round draft pick was released by the Raiders on Tuesday. Josh Dubow of the Associated Press had the story across the wires this morning. Here is a brief part of the story:

Williams was a frequent target of criticism from Kiffin and had two gaffes in Oakland’s 13-9 loss at Tennessee last week. He committed an illegal shift penalty to wipe out a third-down conversion and then dropped a pass on fourth-and-14 with 1:17 remaining.

    • Detroit -3 to win over the Broncos

Detroit is favored to win at home and once again Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger points to this game as a very important one for the Lions growth under Coach Rod Marinelli. If the Lions can win this home game and move their record to 6-2 at the end of the 1st half of the season, then Detroit will get some national notice as one of the most surprising teams of the 2007 season. But as you know each week with the Lions is an adventure and I worry about Mike Shanahan coming in with a defensive game plan like Philadelphia and Washington coaches Andy Reid and Joe Gibbs.
