  • Tampa Bay acquires RB Michael Bennett

RB Michael Bennett was traded from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Tuesday for an undisclosed draft choice. The Buccaneers needed help at the running back position as a result of recent injuries to ‘Cadillac’ Williams and Michael Pittman. Bennett was a Pro-Bowl selection in 2002 as a member of the Minnesota Vikings. Expect to see Bennett in action against the Lions on Sunday.

Detroit’s upcoming schedule is full of playoff caliber teams and a loss this week could start the familiar season ending tailspin seen by Detroit fans since Matt Millen arrived in 2001. Tampa Bay is led by ex-Lion QB Jeff Garcia who has not thrown an interception since last season. Probably Garcia would love nothing more than to have a great day against his ex-Teammates and escape Detroit with a win for the Bucs.

    Bennett never got a shot playing behind LJ. He always had great speed. Miami could use something to work.
    Getting Ted Ginn on the field by cutting Chambers is another step in the right direction.

    James, thanks for the comment. I just hope that Bennett doesn’t dust himself off and run for 200 yards this Sunday. I think Miami can wrap up the the #1 pick with just 1 or 2 more losses.
