- NFL Power Rankings for Week 7 The Detroit Lions moved up a little in the NFL Power Rankings by the entities that do the Weekly NFL Power Rankings. Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger is providing this NFL Power Rankings post as a regular weekly feature during the NFL Regular Season. I am using the same 5 NFL Power Rankings sites each week. The 5 are:
- Fox Sports NFL Power Rankings
- ESPN NFL Power Rankings
- Cold Hard Football Facts NFL Power Rankings
- CBS Sportsline Power Rankings
- Peter King Monday Morning QB - SI

Peter Schrager moved the Lions up 1 spot to 18th this week from week 6 NFL Power Rankings. Schrager wonders which Lions team will show up this week.

ESPN NFL Power rankings are developed by ESPN NFL staff writers John Clayton, Len Pasquarelli, Matt Mosley, Jeffri Chadiha and Mike Sando; Scouts Inc. Insider Jeremy Green; and ESPN.com NFL senior editor Mike McAllister.
The ESPN NFL Staff moved the Lions up to 15th this week a rise of 3 spots from 18th in Week 6 NFL Power Rankings. They gave some kudos to the Lions interception capability.
Jeff Garcia, as noted above, hasn’t thrown an interception all season, but perhaps his former team (from ?05) can force him into a miscue. So far in 2007, only the Cowboys (10) have intercepted more passes than the Lions (nine, tied with four other teams).

Jonathon Comey moved the Lions down 2 spots to 21st in the Week 7 NFL Power Rankings. He was concerned about Jeff Kitna getting sacked so much.

Pete Prisco somehow moved the Lions up to 14th in the NFL Power Rankings this week up from 17th last week in Week 6. Unbelievable in that Detroit is ahead of both Washington and Philadelphia. I wonder if Mr. Prisco knows that the Eagles and Redskins routed the Lions?

Somehow Peter put the Lions back in his Fine 15. After last week when he said:
The Lions are frauds
Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger didn’t think they would ever be back.Â
King didn’t really have a strong endorsement for the Lions more of criticism of the entire league:
I can’t really put them here, can I? A week after calling them frauds and meaning it? Yes, I can. There’s no one else.
NFL Week 7 will bring the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with ex-Lion QB Jeff Garcia to Ford Field. An important game for both teams if either have playoff aspirations. Cast your vote in this weeks Poll.
Which Team will Win the Game on Sunday October 21st, 2007
- Detroit Lions (62%, 24 Votes)
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (38%, 15 Votes)
Total Voters: 39

I have no idea how the Lions are in the top 15 teams in the NFL. But like he said, who else is there? The Lions are still above .500 and are putting points on the board… sometimes. So really, who else is there?
Darin, thanks for the comment. Even more surprising to me was that CBS Sportsline had the Lions ahead of Philly and Washington. Makes no sense to me. Philly players said it was playing against a ‘pop warner’ defense. Chris Cooley said the Lions quit in the 2nd half at Washington. How can they be ranked ahead of teams they lost to by 35 and 31 points?
