- Chris Cooley Says Lions Quit
Washington Redskin TE Chris Cooley said the Lions all but quit in the heat and humidity in Washington last Sunday when the Redskins beat the Lions 34-3. Cooley on a radio interview say he could see the Lions wilting.
“It was a contributing factor why we won the game,” Cooley said. “Detroit is not practicing in 90-degree heat, and we have been. It’s been 100 every day. They were dead by the second half. It seemed like they didn’t care what happened. Sometimes that goes on in a game, and when you get tired, the heat kind of takes over, and we really pulled away from them. We were dominating in the first half, and it stayed close, but we really pulled away in the second half, and they made a lot of errant plays.”

- RB Tatum Bell Requests Trade
Reportedly Lions RB Tatum Bell is unhappy with his role in the Lions offense now that it appears that Kevin Jones will become the starter after the bye week. Bell’s agent Jeffrey Griffin told Lions President Matt Millen that Bell would like to be traded. It does not appear that the Lions will make an effort to trade the RB. Griffin had this to say on Friday:
“He (Millen) said he had every intention of keeping Tatum. Unless something were to change, this (Detroit) is where it’s at.”
