Detroit Lions vs Washington Redskins at Fedex Field

Sunday October 7th, 2007 @ 1:00

TV: Fox Network - Sam Rosen, Tim Ryan and Jennifer Hammond

Detroit is 0-20 in games played in Washington

Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger is concerned about this game. I know that Washington Head coach Joe Gibbs will try and keep Detroit’s NFL 4th Ranked offense off the field. Gibbs has been very successful in beating the Lions as evidenced by his 9 wins and 0 loses lifetime when facing the Lions. I suspect that you will see RB’s Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts getting many carries and QB Jason Campbell throwing many screens and short dump passes to TE Chris Cooley. Some good news though about the Redskins, Washington is only 10-8 coming off the bye week since the NFL started with a bye week in 1990 and under Gibbs only 3-3 all time after the bye week. Your ‘Lion Eyes’ blogger tries to find hope anywhere when it comes to the Lions going to Washington and playing a Joe Gibbs coached team.

Is this week’s game the springboard to a great Lion’s season or will it be the start of the familiar trend for the Lions? You know the trend, the one where they lose a game and then another and then a losing streak and before you know it a 5-11 season. Lets hope they can break all the Washington losing streaks and dive into a great Lions season.

As we move to NFL Week 5 you start to see injury reports that are more crowded. The ‘Skins are concerned about WR Santana Moss being ready for the game. The Lions look to get WR Calvin Johnson and DE Kalimba Edwards back after both missed last week’s game against the Chicago Bears.

  • Lion’s Roster Moves
  • Placed RB Brian Calhoun on Injured Reserve
  • Signed RB Aveion Cason
  • Las Vegas Latest Line
  • Redskins -3.5 to win over the Lions
