  • Chicago Bears Name Brian Griese Starting QB

Brian GrieseThe Chicago Bears are changing starting QBs. My contemporary blogger Winnie provides the story over at Chicago Bears. The Lions will now prepare for Brian Griese as the QB for the matchup Sunday September 30, 2007 @ 1:00 at Ford Field. The man he is replacing, Rex Grossman, led the Bears to the Super Bowl last year. But with the defending NFC Champions off to a slow start this season with 1-2 record and Grossman’s stats near the bottom of the NFL, Bear Coach Lovie Smith made the decision. Rex has only 1 TD pass with 6 interceptions, is completing only 52.8% of his passes and is only ahead of Minnesota’s injured QB Tavaris Jackson in the NFL QB Rankings. Probably an easy decision for Smith.

  • Chicago Bears vs Detroit Lions

The Lions record against the Bears stands at 62-87-5 all time. In the last 10 games, 7 have been decided by 6 points or less including last Christmas Eve at Ford Field. That matchup won by the Bears 26-21.

The Bears have only won 2 of the 5 games at Ford Field and lost 9 of 10 games during the 1990’s played at the Silverdome in Pontiac.

Lions Head Coach Rod Marinelli and Bears Head Coach Lovie Smith were on the Tampa Bay coaching staff together from 1996 - 2000.
